Special Exhibit Celebrating our 30th Anniversary
The Master Weavers of the Toadlena/Two Grey Hills Region:
A Historic Overview 1910-2010
The Marin Show: Art of the Americas will feature a 30th Anniversary Special Exhibit, The Master Weavers of the Toadlena/Two Grey Hills Region: A Historic Overview. Since its beginnings, the Toadlena Trading Post has helped sustain the most highly regarded Navajo rug style, encouraging weavers such as Daisy Taugelchee, Bessie Manygoats, Mrs. Police Boy, Julia Jumbo, Virginia Deal, Cora Curley, Clara Sherman, and many others. The special 30th anniversary exhibit, curated by collector/art dealer Mark Winter, will showcase a historic collection of Toadlena/Two Grey Hills textiles by Master Weavers of the region, created over the last one hundred plus years. They are highly regarded for their native, hand-spun wools, the quality of the weave, and their intricate designs. Arranged chronologically with two or more distinctive examples from each decade beginning in 1910, each will illustrate the history of these prized Navajo textiles and the weavers who made them.
